A rusty old freighter with me and 14 Musk Ox calves which were caught on the East coast of Greenland and after wintering in Denmark are being delivered to the West coast.
Greenland '65
After graduating from high school I spend a year in Europe. I learn enough bass to enter conservatory. I learn to ski in Austria. I become proficient in Danish, German, French, and Spanish. And I spend 3 months hitchhiking and sleeping rough.
The year that changed everything
Africa
n 1974 I travel to Kenya and Tanzania for rock climbing at Hell's Gate, 3 routes on Mt. Kenya and being turned back on a second ascent route before finally succeeding in climbing Kilimanjaro. With other adventures including a virulent tropical infection.
Papillon ... the trip
With my wife Jimena and my 2 and 1/2 year old son Richie. I travel by plane, bus, smuggler's boat, and thumb across the Northern coast of South America from Colombia to French Guyana with side trips up river with the descendants of escaped slaves .
Santa Marta
In 1972 I travel to the remote Santa Marta range in Colombia for climbing the highest mountain and visiting the ancient Arhuaco tribe living as they have since before Columbus arrived.
